Marco announced a new version (rework) of the Air theme for Plasma.

That reminded me of the fact I forgot to blog about the new version of Slim Glow that will be in 4.10.

The most noticeable change is that the system tray icons, share-like-connect icons, and others are now based on the awesome Font Awesome by Dave Gandy (http://fortawesome.github.com/Font-Awesome)

The second is that it is now even slimmer. The desktop widgets have smaller border, especially those like the folder view.

The theme is now again a regular citizen of kde-look.org. Since the non-default themes were moved from standard installations into kdegraphics module, I started receiving requests to make the theme available through the Get Hot New Stuff since rarely anyone wants to install ~~kdegraphics~~ kdeartwork. I understood the desire for this, so I complied.

The "Awesome" KMix icon is hardly awesome. It looks dated.

@<a href="#comment-51274" rel="nofollow">Markus S.</a>: I wouldn't call it 'dated' but the air icon does look more slick. On the other hand, air icon (IMO) is anything but obvious. Especially when you also have almost the same icon for the wireless network.

For me, it is better that way because the desktop then doesn't visually draw attention to itself - it sits in the background - where it should be.

Does look interesting from the screenshots. Now if only there were a good dark color theme. All the ones I've tested so far either go way too far with the darkness or have bad contrast that makes them hard to use with most applications.

Hi, thanks for Slim Glow. It's the most sane looking plasma theme their is.
I do notice a slight usability issue though! The notification widget does not really stay "lit up" if there are existing notifications. Thus, if I am away from my computer when a notification occurs, I have no way to know without clicking on it to display them. This is kind of annoying, as I rely quote heavily on that notification widget.
It does kind of change color from a dark gray to a lighter gray, but it's hard to distinguish.
Is it possible to make it maybe blue or even a lighter shade of gray if it has notifications? As long as it's possible to distinguish between it having notifications and it being empty. If you catch my drift?

You'll need listitem element for the new 4.10 notifications (when pulled down), without it, it fallbacks to Air, so that looks funky with darker themes :-)
